Stone & Wood
Stone & Wood Stone Beer
Brewery: Stone and Wood
Format: 500ml Bottle
As a tribute to the brewers of the Middle Ages, each year we brew this beer by adding wood fired stones to the kettle to rouse the boil and intensify the malt characters of the brew.
Long before the wizardry of steam was invented, brewers used stone and wood to brew their daily beer. Apart from the obvious heating effects, the stone caramelises the brew to create rich toffee like flavours.
Thanks to an extremely limited supply this beer sells out exceedingly fast. This is definitely one annual release you don't want to miss.
WHAT OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING
Better than previous years
I was sceptical of the use of "11 malts" and expected the beer would, as in previous iterations, finish too sweet for me. However the judicial use of roasted malts in this variety ensures a drier, roasty finish whilst still retaining some caramel sweetness in the middle.
My favourite version, thus far.
Not as good as previous years
I was expecting big things, but was left a little disappointed. Perhaps I remember it being better than it was. Still a good beer, and I'd definitely recommend it if you've never had one before.
Dark almost black brew. Light chocolate nose. Smooth chocolate, raisin & light spice flavours. Mild bitter hops finish. Good windy night ale
Rich & deluxe
Dark & smooth...smoky and rich! My first stone, definitely not my last!
Gorgeous winter brew
A dark velvety stone beer to be enjoyed on a cold winters night in front of the fire place with your loved one. Chocolate, coffee and smokey flavours. Don't be afraid to give this stone beer a go.
