About The Beer
Big, bold and emerging from the deep dark abyss, these beers will take no prisoners so be prepared!
It features 6 of our favourite Imperial Stouts, Barleywines, Belgium Quads and other big beers. Including new releases and some of our staff absolute favourite beers.
1. Boatrocker Sterk & Donker Barrel Aged Dark Belgian Quad, 11.2%
Sterk & Donker, our ode to the Belgian Dark Strong Ale, aged in STARWARD whiskey casks for 12 months.
2. Hope F-111 Jet Black IIIPA, 11.1%
This beer is supposed to be big, bold and noisy just like a jet! It's a massive Triple Black IPA that used loads of hops and then we added some more! A very intense, piney and resinous beer pop riveted together by bitterness and navigates its high alcohol for a perfect landing.
3. Sierra Nevada Barrel-Aged Narwhal Imperial Stout 473ml Can, 11.9%
Barrel-Aged Narwhal is our deliciously dark Imperial Stout aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Barrel aging is a strange science; it mellows some characteristics of the original beer while intensifying others. Narwhal's aggressive roastiness has calmed, but the rich, chocolate-like malt backbone is brought to the fore. Black as midnight, this intense stout is complex with notes of cocoa and espresso balanced with hints of vanilla and toasted coconut from the oak casks. Nearly as rare as it's nautical namesake, try Barrel-Aged Narwhal while you can because like the creature itself, it will soon dive into the depths and leave nary a trace behind.
4. White Bay Drip Coffee Porter, 6.5%
DRIP is a further concentrated focus on blending beer with delicious coffee. We’ve made a slight change to our brewing process and have switched from a lager strain to an ale strain for this particular porter. The base beer is built on a velvety rich structure of flavourful English and Kiwi specialty malts and fermented with a charismatic English ale strain which gives off lovely banana and bread pudding vibes. We then blended the base beer with some hand selected and custom roasted Mexican coffee beans care of our best friends at Little Marionette. The base coffee gives off heavenly vibes of charred American oak, Anzac biscuits and caramel which, when combined with our base porter, has created a truly delectable treat!
5. Slow Lane Cellar Worthy Barleywine, 14%
Barleywine made in the English style with Maris Otter barley. We used an extended four hour boil to create complex melanoidins that contribute toffee and caramel notes. Open fermented for less yeast stress and a well attenuated finish despite the high alcohol. Tank conditioned for eight weeks then can conditioned so that flavours will continue to develop over time.
6. St Bernardus Abt 12, 10%
The absolute top quality in the hierarchy of the St. Bernardus beers. It is also the beer with the highest alcohol content (10.50 %). A dark ivory coloured beer with a high fermentation. The show piece of the brewery. Thanks to its soft and unconditionally genuine aroma, the beer can be smoothly tasted. The Abt has a very fruity flavour.
