BrewDog Ship Wreck

Beer description: Four months ago, Ballast Point took the money and ran as they sold out to a Mexican distributor and left the ranks of craft beer behind them. As a result, we are not ordering any more of their beer for our bars – but we had a collaboration beer ageing in our Ellon brewhouse. We are not about to pour away the hard labours of our brewteam based on the misguided decisions of others, so Ship Wreck will be a 13.8% redacted collaboration strong ale, aged in Speyside and Islay casks.

Brewed to encapsulate the flavours of mezcal, this bright golden beer smoulders with smoky notes, as well as intense fruit character. A strong ale brewed with smoked malt and smoked agave syrup, aged in both Islay and Speyside casks, some loaded with Sal de Gusano.

The resultant barrel-aged beer swings wildly between the intense Islay notes, crackling with peat smoke and toasted marshmallow, and the rich, fruity Speyside bringing peach, apricot and mango.
