About The Beer

We think Farmhouse Ales and Wild Ales are two of the most complex and yet refreshing categories of beer you can find. Unlike most beer, farmhouse and wild ales generally have fantastic cellaring potential, with a flavour evolution that can span many years, and in some cases decades. This sixth edition of the pack is about as good as it gets when it comes to these beers, featuring OG Belgian farmhouse brewers like Blaugies, Fantome and De Glazen Toren. We’re particularly excited to be including one of our favourite beers, the extraordinarily delicious Crianza from Brasserie De La Senne, which you will not be able to find anywhere else in Australia.

Only 12 of these are available, so get in quick!

Here's the line-up:

1. Fantome La Dalmatienne Hoppy Saison 750ml Bottle

This beer has been styled as a ‘Belgian IPA’, but it’s essentially a hoppy spin on Fantome’s original Saison, which is a cult classic amongst farmhouse enthusiasts. Topher from Wildflower gave us a bottle of this beer that he brought back from his trip to Europe this year. We were in love at first sip. Plenty of bitterness, spice and unripe fruit, typical Fantome character. A real favourite of ours this year, so we had to include it in this pack. ABV 8.0%

2. De Glazen Toren Saison d'Erpe-Mere 750ml Bottle

Straw coloured, peppery, citrusy/lemony hop character and firm bitterness. Typical of the style, the carbonation is massive and will leave a souffle-like head at the top of your glass – you can probably eat it with a spoon if you do it right. This is a classic example of an incredibly refreshing and clean Saison with minimal funkiness. Delicious! ABV 6.5%

3. Blaugies Darbyste 375ml Bottle

A very interesting beer that is fermented out using fig juice, which is meant to be one of the many ingredients that were traditionally used in Belgian style Witbiers. The result is a bit of a hybrid beer between Saison and Witbier. Quite dry and aromatic with a little bit of tartness. A beautiful and refreshing beer, you would expect nothing less from Blaugies. ABV 5.8%

4. Brasserie De La Senne Crianza 330ml Bottle

An exceptional beer. It’s a very traditional barrel aged Flanders style red/brown sour beer. Think Rodenbach, but much drier, slightly more ‘perceived’ acidity and with some funkiness characteristic of Brettanomyces. Modern examples of this style like Rodenbach add sugar to balance out the acidity. This beer has no added sugar and is thus a more traditional/historical example of the style. Gorgeous and deep caramelized maltiness, think crème brûlée. Has a gentle acidity with lots of apple and cherry. More oak character than is typical of the style. Like all De La Senne beers, it’s both very complex and yet seemingly very simple and restrained, making it an excellent beer to enjoy with food. ABV 7.4%

5. Lindemans Goyck Lambic 750ml Bottle

A completely overlooked and underrated beer. This is one for the real enthusiast because it brings together two great brewing families. It’s a blend of Lindemans lambic with a Blanche/Witbier named ‘Toots’ that is brewed by Koenraad Goddeau (brother to the master blender at legendary lambic blendery De Cam Geuzestekerij). After blending, the beer was dosed with Brettanomyces at bottling. The result is an exceptionally refreshing beer with great complexity. When this beer was first released it tasted like a lovely Witbier with some funky notes. Now it is in the prime of its life. Acidity has come through perfectly. Lots of dried apricot, apple and dried flowers on the nose. Cleansing carbonation and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Drink now, it's delicious! ABV 5.5%

6. Wildflower Table Beer 375ml Can

This is not the first time we have included this beer in this pack and for good reason. Apart from being one our favourite beers in Australia, it also represents so much about what makes farmhouse beers so enjoyable: meticulously sourced, organically grown ingredients and traditional old-world brewing methods result in a remarkably flavourful, refreshing and sessionable beer. Perfect to drink with pretty much any food. ABV 2.9%
