Hop Nation Brewing Co
Hop Nation Site Fermentation Project Lapin 2019 Cherry Sour 375ml
Brewery: Hop Nation Brewing Co
Style: Sour Ale
Format: 375ml Can
This is the 2019 vintage of our Lapin Cherry Sour Blonde.
Now in its second year, the Lapin celebrates the cherry harvest and uses organically grown Victorian Lapin cherries from Mark's Farm in Benalla. This year we mixed things up, adding the cherries directly into our 3000 litre wooden foedre barrel, where our sour blonde ale had been quietly ageing.
It re-fermented there for a few months, meaning this year's vintage brings a bit more funk, but once again is a crisp, refreshing sour.
WHAT OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING
a good strong fruit sour
fruit sours used to all be below full strength, so strong fruit beers were a rarity. Now they are not. This is a good example of these modern strong fruit sours. Cherry the dominant flavour but not too tart. Next is sourness of the yeast. This hasn't hidden the wheat blonde base, but the barrel ageing is sadly faint.
