HopDog BeerWorks Abbey of the Dead
Brewery: HopDog BeerWorks
Style: Belgian Dubbel
Format: 330ml Bottle
Abbey of the Dead perches on a mound of skulls above a river of blood, offering up candy to the lost souls.
She is sweet and beguiling, she is dainty and beaautiful, but inside she is not cotton candy and rainbows.
Brewed to celebrate Halloween and the Day of the Dead festival, Abbey of the Dead is our blood red Belgian ale brewed with sugar skull candies, spiced with marigolds and dried hibiscus flowers, and a big hefty backbone of Belgian malts to tie it all together. Spicy from 2 Belgian yeast strains, you'll get cocoa and toffee on the nose, earthy marigolds and plummy, citrusy hibiscus notes. L:ight in body, but big in malt - and no pumpkin.
WHAT OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING
Between the candy and flowers this was too sweetly hard hitting for my tastes. i much preferred the All Hallowed pumpkin ale the year before.
