Our Miso Icky Sticky Stout has landed! And guess what? There’s a whole lot of gooey goodness coming your way…
It’s brewed with twelve individual grain variants, Perle + Taiheke hops, and a slew of specialty ingredients added to the fermenter, including whole vanilla pods and fifty litres each of Iranian date syrup and house made miso caramel courtesy of PL Head Chef, Rocky Oliveria.
The white miso (which is made by fermenting soybeans) adds umami complexity to the beer and plays off the sweetness of the caramel and date syrup.
It pours dark red brown, with a fluffy, brown crema head. Expect aromas of dried date, vanilla, and milk chocolate. On the palate, more vanilla and rich chocolate which gives way to dried fruit and finally a satisfying combination of savoury umami and bitterness. The finish is longer than a Typhoon Class Submarine. Which by all accounts is pretty long.
