The first Trappist beer from Austria, Gregorius is a dark ale named after the abbey's late abbot. The monks use traditional Trappist brewing techniques; ingredients include local honey, Alsatian wine yeast, malted barley and hops. Aromas of chocolate, bread and red fruits and flavours of roasted malts with hints of spice and a tinge of bitterness provide a complex and balanced profile.

If you let it warm up a bit, a great complexity comes out.
Heavier on the pallet than expected
A fine quality beer, but with a huge amount of unpleasant crud in the bottom of the bottle.
The initial response on first taste is quite heavy handed, with a more generous hop bitterness than I like, but quickly settled as I continued to drink.
Not the best quad I have had, but still a fine beer.
