This is the award-winning original American brown ale, first brewed as a holiday specialty, and now one of Brooklyn Brewery's most popular beers all year-round.

Northern English brown ales tend to be strong and dry, while southern English brown ales are milder and sweeter. Brooklyn Brown Ale combines the best of those classic styles and then adds an American accent in the form of a firm hop character and roasty palate. A blend of six malts, some of them roasted, give this beer its deep russet-brown colour and complex malt flavour; fruity, smooth and rich, with a caramel, chocolate and coffee background. Generous late hopping brings forward a nice hop aroma to complete the picture.

Brooklyn Brown Ale is full-flavoured but retains a smoothness and easy drinkability that has made it one of the most popular dark beers in the Northeast of the United States.

  1. 4 Star Review Lives up to the reputation

This is contender for best brown beer i've ever had. Very smooth with deep roasted malts flavor. Despite the description this was very balanced and not a sweet beer.

  2. 5 Star Review Excellent

Excellent flavor, coffee/vanilla taste. this is a great way to finish off a good meal

  3. 5 Star Review excellent

This is a true brown, The brewery has not gone overboard with hops, so lets the really delicious flavours to shine through. Treat yourself to rich malt, caramel, toffee, with a hint of roasted nuts. Follow with a porter ,then a stout, good Winter sequence. Enjoy !

  4. 4 Star Review A treat

Solid as a rock, as with pretty much anything from Brooklyn Brewery. Can't go wrong.

  5. 4 Star Review A Decent Brown Ale

Has a good dark brown colour pouring with a finger of head. The smell has a good bit of malt to it, a slight touch of nuttiness. Taste is very much malt up front, some hops, nuts, a little bit of caramel. The hoppiness balances the malt nicely. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall this is a very enjoyable beer.
