Bright Idea XPA

Bright Idea XPA Pale Ale - XPA (Extra Pale)

Description:

In the 60s, Murray’s Beach came within a whisker of getting Australia’s first nuclear reactor. Seriously. Thanks to dedicated locals, this bright idea never saw the light of day. So you’re free to enjoy this citrusy, refreshing XPA in the Jervis Bay sun - free from any fallout. Our take on the XPA style beefs up the body (of the beer that is, not you), and uses just a single hop throughout. If you’re going for one you might as well make it a good one, so we chose Citra. We haven’t hopped it to oblivion, choosing instead to allow the addition of crystal malt to express and balance the assertive bitterness. Of course we did dry hop it generously, so there’s plenty of aroma there too!

Kuro Black Rice Lager

Kuro Black Rice Lager is a clean, easy drinking dark lager. Using the same base as our Kingu Rice Lager blended with the rich aroma and flavour of darker malts. The darker flavours are derived from roasted malt while still maintaining the crispness of rice to maintain that super smooth finish. Brewed with premier malts, the finest NZ hops and locally sourced rice, the Kuro goes down super smooth with a sweet, rounder fullness and distinct coffee and chocolate flavours. Pairs well with Kuromame

Atomic Torpedo

This imperial hop collision fuses West Coast and Juicy IPAs, unleashing atomic flavors of lush fruit, citrus, and sticky pine. First released as a DIPA, we kicked Atomic Torpedo up from 8.2% to 9.2% ABV for bigger and bolder Imperial IPA intensity. And just like the original Torpedo IPA, this hop giant starts 2023 with brand new artwork.

Fashionably Punctual - Late Harvest

Building on the notion that hops are significantly impacted by terroir, Fashionably Punctual is an experiment in the influence the grower has on the hops. While climate, soil, and latitude play an important role, the influence doesn’t stop with the land. This instalment in our Experimental Series compares the harvest date of the same hop varietal from the same farm. Working with Freestyle Hops of New Zealand, we’re using the same base beer to contrast early vs late harvest Nelson Sauvin hops. Paradise was a place where the sky was always blue, and the trees were forever green. They say it was the dark angel that led the people away. He did so with the promise of a better life, one more interesting and perfect than they had experienced. But it was all a lie. The dark angel was rebellious and convinced people to move on as revenge against its creator. Today, people strive to find what was lost and regain what they feel is their right, and return to paradise. Paradise Lost is our homage to this tale, which has been told in homes worldwide for generations. When you sit back and take in this Imperial Stout, we hope you find your version of paradise, and perhaps it will draw you back to that ideal time.

They say that sharing is caring, so when we stumbled across the exciting new Aussie hop variety 'Eclipse', we got Hop Swap. Firing back with a new experimental hop called 'NZ107' we had ourselves a good old fashioned Trans-Tasman collaboration idea. Boasting intense tropical fruit and citrus aromas with a smooth hazy body, this IPA was straight on the blower to our cuzzies at Chur Brewing NZ to see if they would like to play a game ocrafted out of a friendship that transcends the body of water that divides our two breweries. Cheers! (Chur!)

Our tribute to the great London brewing tradition, Staircase Porter is a decadent blend of dark roasted and caramel malts. Complex layered flavours of creamy espresso, bittersweet chocolate, and toffee combine with flowery hops to create this full bodied nourishing ale. True to tradition, this porter is all-natural and smooth on the palate. Named after the Staircase Spur, the steepest track to Victoria's highest peak. It's the kind of namesake this hearty porter deserves.

Freedom & Resolve

Description:
Freedom & Resolve is a brand new DDH Kellerbier brewed to support relief efforts in Ukraine, in collaboration with Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival and 2085 Brewery from Kyiv. This modern take on the Kellerbier style has been generously double dry-hopped with Citra and Eclipse. The hops jump out of the glass as soon as you crack the can and pour it. On the nose we get grapefruit and lime from the Citra paired with some sweet mandarin and just a hint of pine from the Eclipse. The palate follows the nose with a nice bready malt character that is rounded out by a super refreshing hit of bitterness.

Good things come in threes. Back in ’67, Hendrix, Joplin & Redding made their first major appearances at the three day “Summer of Love” Monterey Pop Festival, which set the standard for future music festivals and is famed for its fiery finale. Debuting as a trio, Cryo Citra, Cryo Idaho 7 and Simcoe hops give this pale ale tropical fruit notes with a subtle spicy finish. Boasting a dark golden appearance with red hues thanks to the inclusion of Shephard's Delight malt, this beer delivers a fruity palate of mango, pineapple and passionfruit with a refreshing bitterness that will have you coming back for more.

The Tropo-Thiol will be the latest in our IPA collab series with Freestyle Hops and Hopsters. It's a super juicy Double IPA that will showcase the brand new TropicAle yeast from White Labs, plus feature thiol precursor packed Freestyle Hops from New Zealand's Nelson Valley, and it'll be topped with their innovative SubZero Hop Kief oils.
