Het Anker Brewery still brews "The Emperor's Beer" which is top-fermented and bottle conditioned following traditional methods. Its high gravity (O.G. 1080-85) combines the warmth of wine and the freshness of beer. Gouden Carolus is one of the strongest and most exciting beers in the world. After lengthy maturing and conditioning, it is bottled unfiltered, giving a beer which is rich in vitamins and 100% natural. Gouden Carolus has unlimited storage (it even improves with age) and will charm you with its warm coppery colour and rich bouquet.

Belgian...
By far the nicest beer I have ever drunk. Quite unique flavour and worth the price to get it in Australia.

Unique beautiful beer
First tasted this beer in an Irish pub !!!! in the town of Mechelen in Belguim. It is hands down the nicest beer I have ever drunk. It has a rich, sweet flavour and I think is quite unique for a dark beer. Whilst not cheap, I was delighted to be able to access it through Beer Cartel and has been my 'tonic' through covid !!

My favourite beer ever...
I first tried the classic a couple of years ago - it was love at first taste. Beautifully smooth, elegant body, lovely dark malt on the nose and the warmth just brings it all together. Can't recommend this beauty enough!

Top Notch
This beer is really really decent. Lots of caramel malty goodness, hints of spice and fruit. Slides down easily and makes you wish the bottle was bigger. Wouldn't get sick of this one.

Drinks a bit heavier than most Belgians!
A dark Belgian Strong Ale, you won't find anything else like it around the city. Very lightly carbonated, this beer. Nonetheless, It's refreshing to find Belgian beers of this nature so close to Sydney.
